Latin Name – Viola x wittrockiana
Sowing Instructions – Sow the seeds in trays or plugs on the surface pf a good quality moist seed compost From June – Jan!!
Germination will take place at between 18 and 20 Deg C and should be apparent within 7 days
Try to avoid excessive heat as this may prevent germination.
When the seeds are large enough to handle prick out and pot on into 3 ” pots.
The plants can then be grown on. During this period the seedlings will do best if they are liquid fed a balanced fertiliser once per week.
Plant out after gradually acclimatising the plants to outside conditions.
Hints and Tips – Remember to water pansies regularly. One of the most common reasons pansies fail is because they are not watered enough, so if your pansies are not doing well, try watering them more.
You can use a general, all-purpose fertilizer around your pansies to help them grow. Be wary of using a nitrogen-heavy fertilizer, though, as this can result in more foliage instead of flowers.
Remove faded/dead flowers to encourage the plants to produce more blooms and to prolong the blooming season.
